Chelsea Joy Handler was baptized on February 25, 75 on the 25th of February in Livingston (New Jersey). She was the youngest of six children within her family. Her parents were homeowners. Her father was a dealer of used cars. Her mother came from Germany to the United States as a young woman in the year 1958. In the midst of a decade, Handler died in 1989 following a diagnosis with breast cancer. Her father was Jewish and she was educated in Reform Judaism. Handler was raised in a thriving neighborhood and had a happy childhood. As she entered her twenties Handler moved into Los Angeles in order to explore acting. Handler worked as an actor to help support herself. Handler aged at the age of 21 was able to decide to concentrate on stand-up comedy as a full-time occupation after gaining her ability to tell stories. At the beginning of her career Handler began her stand-up career as a member of the Oxygen network all-female cast for an undiscovered camera and a practical joke reality show Girls Behaving Poorly. From 2002 to 2005, the show was airing. Handler was a part of a number of other shows which included Weekends at D.L. The Bernie Mac Show The Practice and My Wife and Kids. Handler appeared on The Tonight Show for a time as a reporter. The biggest break for Handler came in 2006, when she was able to host her own program on E! named The Chelsea Handler Show. The Chelsea Handler Show ran for a total of two seasons. Handler later went on to tour the United States as part of the Comedy Central Hour Stand-Up Comedy Tour. VH1, Comedy Central Premium Blend & HBO have aired Handler's stand-up shows. In 2010 it was announced that she would host the 2010 MTV Video Music Awards. This made her the second female in history, following Roseanne Barr, who hosted the VMAs.
